Cleaning power head. Time without limit?

Any problem with me soaking my gyre in water and vinegar overnight and not having usual flow? About 6 months of corraline algae, sponges growing on it. Thx

I wouldn't think so any other pump that I've ever had could run in vinegar and water mix. But I normally take any of my pumps apart and clean them with a brush after soaking. I clean all surfaces inside and out, clean the impeller and it's housing. They run much better and you completely get them clean inside and out. Once you get the hang of it doesn't take very long at all.

Yes but I just soaked my skimmer for a couple days in the same and was amazed how easy it came off with just an old toothbrush! Thanks for the info, I wanted to run it by everyone be never had no power head for more than feeding time so far.

If you had a small pump you could put in tank during your gyre cleaning/soaking over night it wouldn't hurt.
