Cleaning PowerHeads ... Vinegar not enough!

There are many posts that recommend running the powerheads in either white vinegar or some diluted muriatic acid ... That does remove hard build-ups but, how do you remove the thick algae build-up. Feels almost like moss, and despite prolonged stay in vinegar, it does not come off. I've used an old toothbrush in the past, but that's good for simple shares/. Good luck cleaning a koralia PH with a toothbrush.

Any clue?

If it's green throw it in peroxide for ten mins. It will kill everything, rinse in water, then move to the vinegar bath. That's what I did on my last cleaning but that's because I had some bubble algae on one of my pumps. Thankfully I can't find any bubble algae in the rest of the tank

Thanks Guys ... is there a way to avoid the scrubbing? I' thinking of something (chemical?) that will eat up the algae ... Will stock up on peroxide and vinegar in the mean time.
