cleaning shells

my mom just came back from a trip and brought me some really copol looking clam shells back. my question is how can i assure these dont have any chemicals or any other substance the will have unwanted effects on my mixed reef. i have heard of cleaning with bleech, but how do i make sure i dont get bleach left on the shells into my tank??? thanx a ton

place them in a pan of vinegar and place heat them up to a boil on the stovetop for 15 minutes you should be good.

do i rinse them with water afterwards of anything??

yes, rinse them off afterwards also make sure to use white vinegar

If you use bleach, just get some Seachem Prime to soak it in afterwards to neutralize the bleach.

If you use vinegar, neutralize them in a bath of baking soda (NOT baking power) and water.
