closed loop system

Just curious? I have a pre-drilled 92 corner tank that I'm using as a FOWLR. I currently am using it with a sump, but was recently thinking about getting rid of the sump and hooking up a large canister (such as the fluval pond canister) and making it a closed loop system. Does anyone else do this? I know it would be a bad idea for a reef, but as I stated it's fish only.

Is there any reason why you need to get rid of the current sump? You've already got something better than any canister filter... why change it?

Just figured a closed loop would make the system totally silent. It's not real loud now, but doing this would make it silent.

Would you be running anything in the caniser? If not, you could just get a nice external pump and run it that way. I think Iwaki, Sequence, and a few others are pretty good pumps.

I agree though, if you can, keep the pump. More water volume is always a good thing unless it ends up on the floor instead of in the tank :)
