cloudy nano

I have a 12g nano with about 15 lbs of live rock and a few snails well 2 weeks ago my ammonia was climming and i did a water change. the tank is 3 months old. during the water change i moved some rocks around. the next day the water was cloudy as could be my brittle star died my goby died and a few snails i took my anemone out right after noticing. the cloudiness went away after 2-3 days. so 2 weeks later the ammonia and nitrate went down clear water so i put my anemone back in the tank this morning now the same thing is happening cloudy water and ammonia is rising just since this morning it up to .50 the anemone is shrinking both times this happened but it always did shrunk the got big the shrunk. has anyone ever had anything like this. i like my anemone but would rather loose it than my live rock or have the tank crash as i have heard it put. I have been seeing some good algea growth in the past 2 weeks. Also when this started 2 weeks ago i added a 20 watt 50-50 bulb but that wouldnt have anything to do with this would it. any advice.

get a skimmer if you don't already have one. anemones are easy to keep. Don't touch the substrate. if you've successfully "cycled" then your ammonia, nitrates and nitrites should not get deadly high. Unless you don't have a skimmer and lots of stuff dies.

Keep a watch on temperature also. This can cause all kinds of issues with water quality and clarity.

Your lights could cause the algea bloom, but shouldn't cloud up the tank.

What about chemical warfare between corals and the anemone?
What about other corals stinging the anenome?
From what I have heard and read, it seem like most anenomies, "if not nearly all", are extremely hard to keep in a 12gal nano right now.
If the nem is better in another tank why not leave it in the other tank? Sorry to hear about your losses, better luck this time.
