clown and candycane

i have two clowns that are hosting in a candycane and it is always closed what should i do it has about 20 heads

Is it epoxyed onto the rock, or permanently affixed in any other way? If not (or even if so), you could try moving the coral to a different position in the tank. My clown particularly doesn't like hosting in corals in the upper half of my rockwork, for whatever reason.

You could also get another coral that clowns will host in and put it in the spot where the candy canes were...mine hosts in a Torch coral.

Used to have a clown that hosted and killed my candy cane. I recently lost a goniopora from a pair of percs that hosted it. I kept buying anemone for them but they ignored the nems. Interestingly, after they killed the goniopora, they hosted the large purple algae growing on one of my rocks, still ignoring the nem. I decided to remove that algae because it is getting too big. The clown finally hosted the LTA. That leads me to wonder...should I get another goni? maybe not....

I wouldn't risk it (re: getting another goni). My clown will host in multiple corals (as well as an RBTA).
