clown fish hosts

I just went to my LFS to find a host for my clown fish. I don't want an anemone because 1)I can never keep them alive and 2)they move too much and when they get big can wreak havoc with the rockwork. I asked about the hammer coral and was told that a clown fish would kill a hammer going in it. Same thing with the frogspawn. My question is-does anyone have or know of a coral that can host a clown fish. I really feel sorry for him. He tries to go in the mushrooms, but they close up on him. Anybody?

i have had them host
1. toothy brain coral
2. Goniopora(don't even try)
3. Large Hairy Mushroom
4. toadstool leather
5. frogspawn.
6. long tentacle platecoral
they can host anything, it's usually their decision to take it so even if you buy something for them they may not like it.

tank raised or wild caught?

if t.r., then almost anything......my ocellaris pair sleep in and try to host a large orange mont. cap. :)

if wild, then what swims withthe fishes said

i have seen tank raised host: frogspawn, plate corals, i think one was trying to host a brain it was at a lfs, also xenia.

I know a clown fish will go in these corals that you've mentioned, but my question is-how does the coral fare in all of this? I was told it would kill the coral by going in it.

here is my clown hosting in my shrooms. yes they closed up at first but after a while they get used to it.
