clown tang going south

Over the past 6 days my clown tang has not been eating the live calurpa, sea weed, formula two and dried nori offered to him. He will eat the hell out of meaty foods that I feed my corals & anemones. I think it all started when I started feeding my fish frozen cyclopse eeze. Which I feed sparingly now due to his change in eating habbits. Over the past 3 days he has started looking pretty thin as I have cut out all meaty feedings this past week. LFS's around here don't carry much of a selection when it comes to live marine algea. Any thoughts on what I should do? I don't feel rite feeding him shrimp, krill, clams and squid. I had this same problem 3 years ago with a yellow tang and he didn't come back from the problems that it created. Is there anything that might boost his hunger for the greens or am I fighting a loosing battle again? Strangly my current yellow tang is very fat and eats his veggies like he should. No issues between the 2 tangs so it isn't a bully problem. I'm just stumped! Any thoughts or advice is greatly needed.

Clown tangs are the easy to keep and a lot of them do start to waste away after some time, just like yours is, even after it was eating for a while.

I have only had him about 4 maybe 5 weeks. he is a still young and is the same size as my adult coral beauty. he was a little thin when I bought him but after 10 days with me he filled out nicely. he ate plenty of the greens that are growing in the tank and the dried sea weed offered on a clip. but like i said, now all he wants is meaty foods and cyclop eeze. Any thoughts on using spirulina brine shrimp?

Spirulina Flake is good to feed him. If he still not eating then try the Brime shrimp but stoak it in vitaimins.

Yeap, it is common for them to waste away, esp. if they are thin when they come in. Most likely the fish needs dewormed, if it has any chance of survival.

Also try and put Nori sheets in the tank and see if that will help. Also if it comes down to him only wanting to eat meaty foods or nothing at all the choose is to feed it meaty foods. Once you get it back to being fat then start to try and get it to eat greens.

if hes only eating meaty foods then continue to feed meaty foods? i know tangs should be eating more veggie matter but in this case having him eat is better than a hunger strike

i feed my tangs a mixture of everything from flakes, nori, pellets to frozen mysis

My yellow tang eats whatever I put in the tank, but he does graze on the LR or eat the nori when I put it in....

I put the nori in there maybe a couple of times a week or so, and he eats the other food in the mean time.

And he just loves the meaty food!
