Club Election - Time to Vote

Members,

It is that time of year again â€"œ election time. As in the past elections, we are electing on-line so as to give each and every paid member a chance to vote. Go to CTARS Website and there on the front page will be a link to vote (you will need to log in).

In addition to voting for the club officers, there are a couple of other ballot questions. The first is the bus trip. The last couple of years, we have gone to Atlantis â€"œ its time to look somewhere else. Would you like to go to The New England Aquarium, New York Aquarium (in Brooklyn) or somewhere else? We will be going in either May or June.

The next ballot question is to approve the bi-laws. With all the complex world legal issues, we took the Bi-laws to a corporate lawyer for review and he made some suggestions to add protection for the club. We ask you to approve these.

The last question is in regards to hosting a MACNA. Our club has come a long way over the last several years. We have had many nationally known speakers and they all have said the will come back if asked. A couple of the MASNA Board members have suggested we look to host a MACNA. To do that, requires a great deal of commitment of the club officers and members. We don’t want to take this on unless we have the backing of the club members.

What is MACNA? It is a 3 day convention for Reef Keepers. Each year clubs put in bids to host them. They have vendors, speakers, workshops a banquet and a lot of fun. Think of it like the conference we had in April, but 3 days and 10 times the people. In all, they have close to 100 vendors showing off the latest products and 25 speakers.

Lastly, we ask you to check out the CTARS website. We have added a forum section for the members. RC has become limited as to what can go on. So we have created a Classified section for you to offer things you can’t on RC â€"œ things like TV’s, washers, cars, etc. We added a lounge, a section for group buys and specials, a section for “Don’t Break The Chain” and a section where you can share your ideas/thoughts to the Board of Directors.

Upcoming events:
• Sunday November 9 â€"œ Noon @ Science & Technology School in New London, we are hosting Marc Levenson
• Saturday afternoon December 13 â€"œ We will be at E.O. Smith
• Sunday, April 19, 2009 - Conference @ Mohegan Sun Casino with Christine William, Steven Pro and Anthony Calfo. You will be able to book your reservation at the November meeting. The cost through November 30, $5 general admission or $30 with lunch (we have a limited numbers of these tickets).

After November 30th, we will be announcing this everywhere and tickets will be $10 for general admission and $35 for conference and lunch.

Any tickets sold after April 12, will be more.

Last, but not least, membership dues. Most memberships expire 12/31/2008. You can renew at an upcoming meeting or on-line. Your dues go toward bringing in speakers, subsidizing the bus trip and administrative expenses (things like insurance, stamps, etc.).

We hope to see you at an upcoming event.

what are the changes?

They are note in Article V, Section 7 - Limitation of personal liability of Directors.

Paragraph 1 was replaced by a new paragraph 1 -6.

The polls are now closed...

The results are being tallied and will be announced at the meeting this afternoon.
