Coil DeNitrator

I a thinking about building a coil denitrator for my 300 gal system. A couple of question

1) size of tubing (1/4" OD, 1/4" ID or larger)
2) How long (10 feet seems to be the general feedback)
3) Use 4" or 6" PVC
4) Use sulphur instead of bioballs

what i've heard was........use about 100' of black 1/4" OD tubing....coil it up and start a siphon about 1" inside of display tank going into sump.....the theory is that anarobic bacteria is inside the tubing void of oxygen....the slow water movement kills everything going down....you could also put an inline chamber of some rocks to buffer the water 'cuz the water coming out usually tends to be acidic........or you can just put in a refugium...........

You need the chamber to complete the process. The chamber adds an even slower moving area for the bacteria to live. The RSMAN thread has more info than you would ever want.

If you use sulfer or not you still need to use a good amonut of carbonate rock to buffer the ater back up to normal. Of yeah, 10 feet is ay to short also, times that by at least 10, maybe more for a 300 gallon tank.
