We are leaving Kansas City to drive 20+ hours to the beautiful city of Tampa Saturday. Does anyone recomend any bars/night clubs to visit? I have heard about Ybor City and what are some opinions on that? Any local bars where I can meet a fellow reefer, since I am going to be living there in July?

IMO Ybor is played out. I would check out channel side. While you're at it you can check out the aquarium down there.

in that case then ybor might be for you. if you like high energy clubs, a bit of a wild crowd some times down right trashy, Average age is around 25 but unfortunatly the street is open to the pubilc so lots of younger kids running around. DO NOT venture off 7th. not the best place to be wondering off

or you have channelside. much nicer IMO. nice clubs along side nice places to eat. The general age is around the same but a MUCH nicer crowd. its sort of like the prep version of ybor. well worth a visit IMO.

You also have baywalk in Stpete. its turning into a very popular scene. good music, nice clubs, great eats, great theater.
I do not know your race but for some reason certain days you will feel like the only white guyaround. Not that thats a bad thing just letting you know. The general crowd on most weekends is the prep college crowd all hanging out at martini bar. A nice place to go and a walk down the pier with your girlfriend is nice as well.

spring break is almost here so the hurricane and shepards will be super fun places to be on the beach

channelside is taking over the ybor crowd... but man is it tough to find a place to park when there is a hockey game on

Another alternative is some of the restaurants and bars in Hyde Park and So Ho District. I have had a lot of fun at McDinton's, The Dubliner, Hype Park Cafe etc... A much more upscale crowd but still pretty young do the proximity to the university. Also, those places are much less stressful since your not fighting all the nonsense in Ybor or Channelside.
