MA has high prices? I disagree. I think their prices are inline with the quality of livestock they have and given their location. Show me ONE other store in Manhattan with their selection. A store that has sharks and rays on display? A store with a candy basslet in a rimless tank? A store with a FW acryllic tank suspended above the cash register? A circular display tank with a ton of show size fish? I could go on.

That stated do you own a car? It's a valid question as a lot of folks in the city do not. If you do - then I don't see why you aren't traveling EAST and checking out the LFS on the island.

Northern NJ also has a store called Reef Encounters in Hackensack.

I was thinking if you want a "What you see is what you get" - then you cannot beat the online store "divers den" from liveaquaria. but this is not in NY - you'd have to order online then have them deliver it to NY.

Given the nature of shipping and the fear of losing something you could ask that they pack it as if it had to travel for 48 hrs or something. I dunno if that would work but no harm trying.
