Why are the individual green polyps on my large green polyps coral turning white in the center of the individual polyps? Everything on parameters checks out. Can this be due to not enough lighting? Not to mention they are not opening up all the way. Any advise?

Those palythoa are very durable. Poisonous too. Watch out! Unless it's getting stung by something else, I'd look for a "parasite".

What test kit are you using? I use salifert which is reliable, test it again and check pH should be 8.5,alk at 12-14,Ca at 380-400 and salinity usually I keep higher at 1.025. I use RO water too with b-ionic and oceanic sea salt. Once you fix the water, they will spring like flowers.

i had a colony of those... and they did the same thing. I have a clam, duncans, elegance, anenomies, and RPE's. All growing and multipying. I though it was bleaching out... so i moved them into my QT tank. They seemed to still be multipying but never regined full color or open long tennticles... I included them in the sale one of my qt tanks last month... I had them in qt for 3 months with not much luck
good luck with yours...

also, did you buy them that way(size of colony) or did they grow to that size in the pic?

The thing is though, this is a coral that can survive, if not thrive in conditions that are not spot on. "What's a beginner coral?" Button polyps come to mind.
