Coralife Aqualight Fixtures question with no glass tops

Just purchased the legs for my lunar aqualight fixture... Today there is a TON of salt creep on the plastic shield ... is this preventable / will it take away from the light?

Should I just put my glass tops back on ??

The glass will cut down on your light intensity. You need to wipe the plastic sheild about once a week.

if it doesnt wipe off cleanly, use a little white vinegar to help dissolve the salts.
