Should the clam set on the byssus opening. I put mine that way on the rock and it flips to the other side. does it have to hook to the rock will it be ok the other way. It does open all the way. I just dont want to stress the clam if i keep moving it. The clam is a new clam had it 6 days.

You want to set it on the opening. I would however find a small rock that has a "cup" in it that the clam can sit in. Set this on the bottom of the tank with the clam on it until it attaches. Then you can move the clam if necessary

if you give it a week or so it will tighten up its grip.
