Crab ID

Anybody have an ID on this crab? Should I take him out or leave him be?

I have at least 2 of these but I dont know what they are either. I hope someone chimes in with an ID. I haven't seen them bothering anyone. I am mostly worried they will be eaten.

those are some big craws. perfect for eating corals. crabs are omnivores.. hitchikers gotta go. crabs with rounded claws are supposed to be more acceptable.....

just for fun. heres a pic i took about an hour ago. also unidentified, had it 5 months.. look what i caught it doing tonight. guess now that ive caught it being bad i hafta pull the blinds off my eyes and catch it it hitchhiked on the first piece of LR i picked out, and has tripled in size. i try to feed it so it wont bother anything....

Stone Crab.

I had one of these guys for a while, but they do become a menace after 4 or 5 molts.

Mine started off about the size of a nickel, and within 7 months was about 3 inches in diameter when I relagated him to the sump and then tried shipping him off to become tank mates with Tim the Super Mantis...alas he did not survive shipping.

Did you leave it in or remove it? One of mine molted and looks alot bigger now (like a nickel). He's not shy so i suspect he'll be easy to catch, if necessary. The other one I saw is still small.

Any crab with black tips on its claw is bad for reefers....
