crocea clam lighting

Crocea clams are very light dependent. I don't believe the VHOs would be a good choice for a Crocea clam. You might be OK with Derasa's or Squamosa's with just VHOs. Metal halides are more appropriate for keeping Crocea's and Maxima's.

yeah, what nanook said....I must agree. IMHO, don't even bother trying to keep a crocea under fluor's. Get halides!! Plus, 420 watts sounds awfully slim for a tank of that size, again, all in my humble opinion. Croceas, aquacultured or wild collected, are the most light dependent of all the tridacna species. Maximas are close behind. You won't be sorry about purchasing a few halides (after your wallet recovers, anyway).

i kept maximas for awhile under pc and vho and they did ok but not great. i never could keep a crocea though. as soon as i upgraded to halides my maximas got better color and all of my clams are very happy:rollface:
