crocea placement

I have a 65 gal mixed reef, 2x175MH 10kk, 2x95VHO's. Tank is 36x18x24. I have squamosa that is doing fine on the sand. I am considering adding a crocea. What would be an ideal placement for this guy?

Also, what about a maxima? Are either of these OK on a solid area of rockwork or do they need substrate?

Croceas, in the wild, are found up on the reef where they bore into the rock to protect them from strong currents. Therefore, it is best to place them up on a rock. Maximas are also found like this but they seem to do ok on the sandbed if you have enough light getting down to them.

Now that works! Just need to move one or two things and we're in business! Is it best to just let them attach on their own? Maybe set them in an "ideal" are and prop them up? Obviously too high in the tank doesn't help with being able to see them top-down.
