Current Fission skimmer for nano-tanks actually work?

Does this little tiny skimmer work for nano tanks? I can't imagine it would remove much just becasue of how small it is....

My friend got one for her nanocube... she got tired of fiddling with it and ended up not using it. There isnt much you can do in the way of adjusting it. I think on smaller tanks water changes are going to be far more effieient.

I agree water changes would be easier, but this is for my mom's nano tank. She is not too good about mixing up salt and doing changes..... She just has a perc and a bi-color blenny that have been doing great forever but coral/inverts don't survie long I'm guessing becasue of higher nitrates.

I've heard about never-ending problems with micro bubbles with these things, but that's simply a matter of aesthetics, not damage to the tank or inhabitants. I've also heard about problems trying to fiddle with them a lot...but nearly all users seem to be putting them into the backs of their Nano Cubes and have a problem keeping the water level constant in the back area. I'm not sure if there would be as many problems if you put in the reservoir of an Aquaclear 500 or something where the level will always be the same.

i would definitely post this in the nano area of reef central....there is all sorts of good info in there about nanos

removethe mechanical sponge and then the water level wont change as fast except from evap....

if you leave the sponge in then as soon as it clogs it will lower the level in the back

i cut my sponge in half so that it still ccatches some stuff but dosnt change the water level ( cut it verticaly)

Hrm, mine works pretty well... Knew about the microbubble problem when I bought it - planned ahead to put it in the hang-in-tank fuge, water level there stays rock solid consistant - and the microbubbles never get to the main tank.

Cup too small? Why do you think the airline connector is on there - plumb it down to a 2L bottle. Mine pulls a good pint or so or nice dark skimmate weekly out of my 30g SH tank (it's used as an auxiliary skimmer).
