custom aquarium builder

Hi everyone-

I am looking for a custom built glass aquarium that uses starphire glass for my dental office. My office is in South San Francisco and I would prefer to deal with someone relatively local (ie within the Bay Area). I have been out of the hobby for about 5 years and now want to return to it. I firmly believe in the addage - do it right the first time, so I am not afraid to spend more if the equipment merits it. Are there any builders that people can point me towards. More importantly, are there any builders that I should avoid?

thanks in advance,
Kenny

His name is Long Huynh, and he can be reached @ 510-714-1128. He lives in Elk Grove, and works in Sac. He does awesome work. A really nice guy.

I personally visited him and he was working on several tanks.
No, i did not order a tank from him. The new house comes first. then the tank.

Texas, Mona's new tank is a standard 210 AGA tank, not custom.

True, but Max can have a custom starphire tank built by Oceanic and do the complete install. No worries. He can do/build whatever you want.

Well as someone who has seen mona's tank in person I will just say EPIC! cabinet, install, everything just smoooooooooooth. My wife would never let me spend the money, but if you have the option I can say it would be nice.

Just got off the phone with Mermaid aquarium and they informed me that Oceanic doesn't make a pentagon corner tank in glass. I had assumed that because they make acrylic pentagon corner tanks that they would make a glass one as well. They do make a bowfront corner tank, but for some reason I have a bias against bowfront tanks. What do you guys think about bowfront tanks? I guess I should go look at one in person, though I am worried that the distortion might annoy me...

I might have to reconfigure my waiting room in my office...

Kenny

Aquarium Concepts in Hayward has the best looking bowfront display. It is HUGE. Distortion is less of a problem when it is big. It is not a corner display though.

I remember seeing someone selling a 90 gallon corner bowfront in the last couple of days on craigslist. The price seemed reasonable for that type of set up.

If you go to All about Fish in Pleasant Hill, they have 4 90 gallon tanks arranged in a neat circular display.

Best of luck,

Roy

CUBE????
Cubes give you the option of three unique views based on aquascaping. Just an idea, I have seen some amazing cubes out there.

Looks like I might be reconfiguring my waiting room to accomodate a rectangular tank. I guess the cabinet spaces above and below the corner tanks aren't optimal to house everything... I'll keep you guys posted.

I went with a 105gallon rectangular tank...full reef system...MH,Skimmer, Ca reactor, chiller.

Only have 4 fish in there, but lots of corals!

I'll try post some pics after I take some pictures!
