Cutting the brace on a 75 gal

I have a 75 gallon tank with a single 400watt MH light system. The center brace casts a huge shadow in my tank. Is cutting the flimsy center brace going to hurt my tank? Is this a horrible idea? What are euro brace's?

Thanks

The tank might break apart if you remove the brace. If you want to replace it, that might be possible. What kind of tank is it? Glass? Acrylic?

I think euro-bracing is the style of reinforcement that just forms a ring around the top of the tank, if that's clear enough.

where do you find this euro-bracing was wondering about the same thing on my 55 gallon tank to cut out the center brace because of the shadows... from it

I cut the center brace on one of my tanks... bad idea. It didnt break but it put way more stress on the bow of the tank. i notice that when i do water changes and put new water in the front glass pushes out more and more.

Don't cut it,!!! I had the same problem on my old 45g. I cut the brace out with it full of water. the thing bowed out an inch at least, scared the poo out of me. I ran to the closest fish store and bought another 45g that night and did the swap.
