DöS vs Perastalic system

Hi Neptune Systems,

Getting back into the hobby and putting together a new build here and enjoying the new technology that has arisen! We've progressed quite a bit from wet-drys and lettuce!

I have your Apex Gold, and will need a dosing system. However, your DöS only has two pumps, which at $349 seems to be quite limiting.

Can you explain to me why your DöS is better than using the BRS Peristalic pumps with your Advanced Programming? (EB8)

The DöS can be analyzed to cost $175 per pump, but one can get high quality pumps for about $50 and just run them with the EB8.

Convince Me! :spin2::spin2::spin2::spin2:

Well for starters, the BRS pumps are far from high quality. In fact, I'd argue that there is no way you are going to get any "high quality" peristaltic pump for $50.00

That said, the DOS going going to be much more precise when it comes to dosing. You can set the amount of volume you wish to transfer via the Apex interface and do so in ml. With a pump like the BRS or any other peristaltic dosing pump, you will have to program the pump the run based on time instead of volume. That requires a fair amount of math to and measuring to figure out exactly how much fluid the pump moves every minute. As tubing wears in, your accuracy will change and you will have to measure the volume and then re-do your math and programming all over again. With the Dos, you simply calibrate the pump which is simple. Your programming never changes. The Dos uses serious motors. Nothing like the cheesy little motors on the cheap dosing pumps like the BRS. The Dos can run in forward and revers which can have it's uses. I take advantage of that for my auto feeder. Running briefly in reverse flushes the line of any food that was in it. You can control the speed of the flow on the Dos. Something you can't do with any other peristaltic short of a Cole Parmer.

Bottom line.. The Dos is in a completely different league and it's not even fair to compare it to a POS $50 or $100 peristaltic dosing pump as far as quality, capability, ease of use and ease of programming.
