DaiJaRi's 90RR Tank Build

Picked up the Trigger fuge (TS30R) yesterday from Dane (Rift to Reef Aquatics).

It seems to fit good. Just laying things out to see how the plumbing will work.....

I'll need to mount the skimmer pump external (QuietOne 3000), so I'll need to drill a hole for that bulkhead. And I'll need to build a raised platform for the skimmer (DAS EX-1).

I'll also need to put some thought on how I'll install pump(s) for the media reactor(s).

And before it all goes together, I need to put some of that pink foam for everything to rest on.....

Still a long ways to go on this project, and since I have a move planned once my house sell, updating the project will be slow...

Not sure if anyone has done this before, but for the background of the tank, I used black 3M adhesive vinyl instead of painting it. Using this material made it easier as I didn't have to move the tank outside.

I have plenty of the 3M vinyl left over if any of you guys in the DFW area want to try it out.

For the lighting, I plan on taking off the lid of the canopy, or might just not use the canopy at all. I guess it depends on how it affects the airflow. Still have not settled on the lighting yet, but at minimum I'll use 2x250 MH, and T5 for actinics. Not sure if it will be an all in one fixture or something else. Kind of all depends on what I choose to spend I guess.....

From your first picture it looks like the pump is hooked up the drain section. I would think it should be on the other end of the sump.

The pump you see there is the skimmer pump. I have another that will be in the return section on the left. But, no pumps are installed yet.... Just placing things to see how it will all fit....

:)

BTW, which city are you a Fire Fighter in? Thanks for your service in any case.... :)

sweet, the joy of new tank setup, always fun, good luck with it all, keep us updated with pics...

what is the vinyl like, is it thick like the corrugated plastic suff? i have a 33 i wouldnt mind trying it on, how much do you have left?

I have quite a bit left. They double shipped, and notified them of it, but they never sent me an RMA for the extra 30' roll. I probably have 20' left of the first roll.

It is almost paint thin. Looks pretty good. Have to be careful not to stretch it when taking the backing off, and take your time, and use lots of soapy water......

BTW, the vinyl material is 24" tall to fit most tanks. How many feet do you need for the 33g? I can cut you some off, and I have an extra applicator if you need to borrow one (and a spray bottle with a couple of drops of dish washing soap as lubricant, if you need that also).

I want to plan to come to this months meeting also, if you want to wait till then, ok by me.

:)

I was thinking that maybe driving the media reactor off the Quiet-One 3000 that is feeding the skimmer..... using a T and a ball valve to control flow to the reactor...

Anyone have any advice on if this is OK? Or should I just drive it with a maxijet (not sure what size though) dropped into the intake side of the fuge?

I work for the City of Plano.

Nice! I used to work as a tech rep for Motorola (something I am not sure is a good thing to mention now considering the condition they are in now). And I know the guy that presently maintains the Plano communications system, but his name has slipped my memory. Been too long since I was in that line of work, and I've never been able to remember folks names...... LOL :)
