What is a good Damselfish for a reef tank?

They can all become very territorial and aggressive. I would't put a damsel in my reef.

I have a Talbot's damsel, she's great. They're an exception to the general rules about damsels - Talbot's stay very small (<2") and are sweet-tempered. On top of that, they're really pretty little fish. My little 1.5" Princess can hold her own if she's harassed (she is after all a damsel), but never bothers any of the other fish, even if they wander into what she considers her space. Talbot's tend to rearrange furniture like all other damsels, but on a much smaller, quieter level - Princess occasionally drags a hermit away from her favourite rock, but that's about as aggressive as she gets.

Thats seems like a entertaining damsel. I got a yellow tail and samething here the yt can fight back if others mess with it so far its a model citizen.

Just about all commonly encountered damsels can be kept in a reef. If you want to keep anything with them... that's another story. I'd follow the advice above and go with either the Talbots or YellowTail if you intend to keep other fish--they tend to be less aggressive and don't get as large as the other damsels.

Yellowtail, Talbot's, & many others in that Genus are very peaceful overall ( Just avoid Blue & Fiji Devils though!). Most chromis are totally peaceful too, except to other Chromis unless in the right ratio.
The real key is to add the damsel as the last or near last fish in your tank, so territory won't be an issue.

the best damsel for a reef tank is the allen's damsel. It would be the least aggressive, but with any damsel they can have a mean streak sometimes.

I have a couple of damsels in my tank. The yellow-tailed blue is the most aggressive fish I have ever owned. SW and FW. If I could catch this thing, it would be out of there and back to the store before it could take another breath. I would never get one of these guys if I were you. Maybe I just have an unusually aggressive damsel, which is one of only two in 46 gallons of water. The other, which maybe I could get some help here, is the most peaceful fish I have ever owned. Model personality but it sometimes too afraid to show it because the YT chases after him so often. The awesome damsel has a more elongated body, all charcoal black, with some bright yellow colorations on its fins. Anyone know what type this is? Anyway, I would have to vote NO for the YT.

damsels can be quite territorial at times, i have 2 bowtie damsels and the larger of them is the aggressive one, it has its place in the tank and when the other one comes near it the chasing begins. at feeding time their is no agression at all. by the way the clownfish is in the damsel family . so if you want damsels just get some clowns, same family anyway
