dc8 with aquaspace light

Hi -

I'm running Aqua Jr. with DC8 to control AB Aquaspace Light, 2x250 watt + 1x150 watt. Total 115V/710 watt

Recently I added another AB Aquaspace Light with a total of 585 watt (2x250 watt + PC)

I did not find the amp information on the light fixtures, so I am not sure if I'm exceeding the usage limit on DC8.

I am finding DC8 to run very hot - will burn fingers when touching it. Is there any safety issue to be concerned about ? DC8 is inside of a cabinet - and I'm thinking about running a fan to help with the heat issue.

Thank you,
Peter

I would expect the DC8 to get quite warm since you are very close to the max ratting on the DC8. I'm guessing that your equipment is drawing close to 15 amps (2 * 3 + 1.8 + 2 *3 + 2 = 14.8. The DC8 will run about 40F higher then ambient at full load; in a hot environment adding a fan is probably a good idea.

Thanks Curt.

I'm probably max out already. I noticed that yesterday that MH light was on then off then on again. I did not mention that I'm also running 4 Tunze stream 6100 + 1 wave box, plus Mag 18 and a Maxijet 600. Couple fans all from DC 8.

I could not find amp information - but I understand from your formula that 250 watt probably draws 3 amps.

I'll look into getting X10 modules on a different extension cord.
