i have been involved in a constant fight with my tank for over a year now and have just about given up on it. my problem is this: tank ph morning: 7.6
tank ph evening: 8.0-8.1
tank alkalinity: 6.0-9.0
tank calcium: 360-400
i just got rid of a k2r and upgraded to a deltec pf601 cause i thought the k2r just couldn't keep up with the demands of the tank. well, i'm having the exact same results with the deltec. i was told that excess co2 in my system would cause these results, so i put my co2 regulator on a timer: 12 hrs on/12 off. this still hasn't fixed my problem. i have tried constant dosing manually and the levels just return to what is show above the very next day.
is it possible that co2 is the root of all evil in my system? what can i do? i have great top water movement, two 4" fans in the hood, tried putting effluent into skimmer, etc.
any help or ideas you guys have would be greatly appreciated.
