demon crabs

when I came home today I was looking for my royal gramma only to find it being devoured by one of my hermits. Is it possible that this crab attacked this fish during the night where it sleeps. And if this is the case should I remove all my red leggeds, because I really liked that fish and would like to replace it. Any similar cases I would love to here from you...

Most likely the fish was dead before the crabs began feasting on it.

Thats their job as a clean up crew after all.

I agree, a hermit wont snatch and kill fish while it is alive. There claws aret big enough and they arent fast enough. If ou had a hitch hiker crab of decent size than they wuldnt have a problem doing so as they are fast and have large claws.

I have seen my hermit crab kick at my damsels with one or two of his legs. I think he COULD kill a royal gramma but in no case do I think the red leggeds would do that. As for if hermits typically kill weak fish, I don't think so but I would defer to people who have had them longer than me.
