The dendrophyllia will look like a huge sun coral and stay out most of the time. Also, the sun coral cost alot less. Typically the dendro will run around 100 a polyp, where a sun coral will be around 30 or so.
I also have branching yellow coral, similar to the sun coral, and wasn't able to identify it. It doesn't look like the photos of Tubastrea coccinea, T. aurea, T. faulkneri and T. tagusensis .
Cladopsammia gracilis is also branching and different from both of them.
Dendrophyllias, that I had seen in store, look very different from sun corals: twice bigger, few polyps only, differerent shade of light yellow with almost red orange mouth area. There was thread about their ID, and by evilervin. If it helps, there is article by S.D. Cairns , compare his information with information of the Bishop Museum, Pourtales plan.

Wow, you need to shop at Cherry Corals, their Dendro's are awesome and about $30 a polyp. They are very easy to do business with as well, even though they sell high end corals, there prices are still less the most I have seen.
Suncorals are generally smaller then dendros, but that isnt always the case. So there is no real way to tell the difference unless you examine the dead skeleton of the coral.
The price of Dendrophyllia has dropped ALOT lately. Pics would help some.
