denitrators

I know some people have had luck with coil denitrators, but I've tried 2 with no luck. I'm going to try a sulfur denitrator. I've heard good things about them.

sulphur denitrator

I am using this from Korallin, zero nitrates after 2 weeks, very pleased with it, much better than the coils, deniballs or the complicated systems which cycle and need feeding with dosers etc. simply set up and that is it
For me it rocks!

I had a coil denitrator called the Nitramax. It was the big version of the Nitragon.Never lowered my nitrate levels.Without oxygen I think bacteria need some kind of food to support its life. Now I have the deniball setup and would recommend it to anyone.

I just ordered a sulfer denitrator from Midwest Aquatics. I'll update this thread after I get it and get it running.

I've been running the AquaMedic 1000 with the Deniballs for about a year and a half I think. My nitrates hang between 1 and 2ppm on my 220gal mixed reef. After a while, the bacterial filaments seem to occasionally clog my throttle valve.

If it ever breaks, I will probably buy a GEO calc reactor and put the sulphur media in it and run it as a denitrator. I only mention the GEO because that's what I run for a Ca Reactor so I'm familiar with it. Any of them would probably do just fine.

I haven't changed water in well over a year so I would highly recommend one.
