what lighting do u have? Derasas do live in the sand, and are lower lighting clams, but this doesn't mean that they don't need intense lighting, it just means that they don't need as intense light as others(like Croceas, Maximas)
They are fine in the sand as long as they have the right lighting. But, looking at your sig you have a 12g? If that's the tank, you should most likely not get one...they aren't suited for small tanks.
