Im looking to find a way to offer color rendition to a specimine. little tiny bugs and things dont stand out really well and am wondering about how to offset the colors. didnt know if food coloring is to dark.

anyone got any glass slides and covers?

anyone local got any proto-slow?

Can't you just use Iodine as a stain? Hehehe, I'm trying to think back to Biology class, and what the stuff was we used? What about like an indigo-type cloth dye, or something like that? If they're digital, you can always polarize and color adjust them in Photoshop or the like? Just save the corrective actions as a script so you can re-create the same changes.

If you're trying to enhance the color, your best bet is to enhance the image using an image manipulation software. If you're trying to enhance the native colros: Stains like food coloring are only going to make things a darker monochrome mess. You can always use special stains to tag aspects of the specimen but those are a bit more challenging to come by and require knowing a bit about what you're trying to enhance.

The opensource "Paint.Net" is my recomendation in this case. It's basic hue, saturation & levels tools may help you.
