I bought a monti recently and made the mistake of laying it on a rock near the bottom of the tank for a couple hours. I come back, and theres a hermit snacking away. So I took it and placed it near the top in a hard to reach area. Of course, I woke up this morning to another hermit attacking the previously hurt area of the monti. Can hermits "smell blood" so to speak? What should I do to protect the monti while it recovers? Blue legged hermit...

I'd banish the blue legged hermit to the sump until that montipora makes a full recovery, or just get rid of it. I'd much rather have a nice looking montipora than that crab. It's a real easy trade off for me.
