Diy skimmer neck cleaner

Good job...so does it run all the time or setup on a timer cause seerms if it ran all the time it would mess with the head of the foam.

Very nice. Looks to not add all that much extra height either. May have to 'borrow with pride' :)

Finally after a year I got around to building the skimmer head/neck cleaner. Good news is it only cost under $25 dollars!

Nice DIY project. What kind of converter did you use for the 12v to Ac? Also is there anything other than pressure holding the rod to the two acrylic pieces? Thanks

I used methochloride to melt the shaft to the acrylic pieces. As for power I used an old AC/DC adaptor 12v 500ma. I believe it was from a cordless phone power supply.

I think i see actually.. Nylon spacer forced on to shaft, glued to rod?

Don't think that is how he connected the acrylic rod to the nylon piece. Nylon isn't a glueable plastic. I'm curious myself how he connected those pieces myself since I've worked with plastics for 18 years.nice DIY neck cleaner BTW, way to make an overpriced product for cheap.

Yeah looking in the video, he has some kind of rod going through spacer and rod. I can imagine a nylon bushing for shaft to spin in might be a good addon

Very nice build, I have ordered 110v 5 rpm 5w motor from ebay and I am going to build similar neck cleaner for my reeflo orca 250. I want to order second lid because i don't want to make holes in original one.. Thanks for sharing this is great and simple design
