DIY wave maker questions

I was just looking around online and came across this link.

It is a DIY wave maker using a sprinkler head. Has anyone ever tried this and if so how well does it work?

I have a 29 gallon that i used a SCWD for a closed loop that worked well but the SCWD broke on me so i am running it with a T in the place of the SCWD. I was looking for cheap alternatives and was thinking of doing this and just putting one in the corner and removing the other outlet.
