i know squams are kind of dull anyway, but.. mine is looking kind of boring. i have it under 2x55w pc's.. i am currently acclimating my tank to a new light (175w 10000k MH) 2 hours a day, with an additional our every day each week.. will my clam get prettier with my new lighting?

The affect MHs have on the water may make your clam look prettier. But I do not think so. A squamosa as it gets bigger will grow bigger schutes on it's shell which is very impressive.

No Way. I have lots of clams including maxima's, ultra maxima's, derasa's, etc. and my favorite is my Solomon Island squamosa. I also have a green squamosa that is beautiful. The maxima's and crocea's can be striking, but a really nice squamosa is hard to beat. As Jim said, they get those great big scutes and they look super cool.

I think your new light should work out great. Let us know if it changes how your clam looks. But don't make the mistake of thinking that squamosa's are "dull" clams. They can be awesome. :D

well, mine is pretty dull. could it just be that it's faded from my previous lights? almost all of the clams i see online have colors that look solid, but mine doesn't have that solid look. does that make sense? hehe.. it looks kind of fuzzy as opposed to the crisp colors of other clams that i've seen. im hoping it's just my lights and that it will rectify itself in time. actually, i'm starting to notice a few small solid purple spots on the clams mantle since i've started acclimating the tank to the new lighting. hopefully those spots are a sign!!
