And if you went with a close loop you would have to drill your tank for the bulk heads or do a over the top style like melev's did.
 
I went with Tunze on a controller w/night sensor
Less power usage, no holes to drill, no chance of leaks

Yeah those pump's are really neat. I'm not sure when the release date is but I hear there going to have a pretty big price tag. But with the battery backup system they would be well worth it.

I had a seio pump, and it really moved water. I switched to three maxi jet 1200s on a wave maker that I got from drsfosterandsmith.com. I works great, but I'm having a hard time keeping the stupid powerheads on the glass.
 
same issue here, have couple of MJs running but im tempted to start another DIY project: SCWD closed-loop wavemaker:D
