Do Mysis Shrimps ever go bad???

if they've thawed out and then refroze they will or if you leave a pack laying out on the top of your predator tank for a full day and then come home and wonder what the heck is that smell............

Well this pack has been in the freezer unopened for like 4-5 months. And i opened it for the first time today. The top looks like it had freezer burn as it was icy on top.

you weren't supposed to admit doing it too, especially with both of us being from Bama. :)

Hypertek

you never know how many times it may have thawn/refroze/thawn/refroze on its journey from the packing house to you. I've also had the freezer burning but it's always after the pack has been opened and wasn't used up for a while so it may of just been a bad packaging job on that bag.

Gack! Or worse, you go to the store, buy the large pack, toss it in your car, when you get home, you humanely remember the live animals and bring them inside, but the nice LFS separated the mysis simply because didn't want to chill the water down... and it slid under your passenger seat, then in a few days when you do run out of mysis you say to yourself "Where did that new pack g... AAAAAWWWW CRAP!"

I don't know if they go "bad" but i think they can definitely freezer burn. I had some like you for about 6 months in the freezer. Finally went to use them and they were icy on top and took forever to melt.

My fish went after them as usual but about half of them just kept spitting them out and wouldn't eat it. Just to be safe, i tossed them.

Well my acans ate them and they all seem happy still. It was just harder to feed as the mysis shrimp was all mushy.
