I was thinking about getting a sohal tang but I heard that they will fight with other tangs, is this true? If so I guess I would rather have a variety of tangs rather than one type.
I wouldnt reccomend it if it is going in your 125g. They need alot of space as they are avid swimmers, and this is why i believe they fight other tangs as well as almost anything similar in shape/type. Id go with mixing some mimics, yellow, sailfin, regal and also watch out for the purples. Some of these can be real bullys. Seen one come in and kill a mimic that was established for 3years a yellow and a regal after being established for a year. He was mine and he did this in an LFS 300 g show tank. I got rid of him because he was going to push my Copperband to the brink.

IME, yes. I had a 4" juvi sohal that grew to about 10-11" of pure terror in my 270 gallon tank. Not only did he/she act extremely aggressive towards the yellow tangs he/she had as tankmates, but also towards every other fish in there. He/she also started to nip on at corals. I had to pull him/her out.
His/her aggressiveness grew with age/size. Also, I agree with Serioussnaps; a 125 gallon tank is substantially too small for this fish. I would recommend no smaller than a 180 gallon tank for a sohal. Only clown tangs compare in aggressiveness as far as tangs go from what I've read.
I was thinking about adding him to my new 210. But if they are that agressive theres no need to get him. I would much rather some of the other tangs than just one sohal tang. Thank you for all your help.
A lot of what I've read suggests they will do fine until they get to a certain age/size. Then one day they'll snap and go after every other fish in the tank. That was enough to rule them out in my book.
I have mine housed with a Purple Tang, a Chevron Tang, and a Striated Brisletooth. All get along fairly well but a couple points to note: I have them in a 500g tank, I've had all of them together well over 7 years, and the Sohal went in last. He'll still get a little aggresive during feedings until he's full, but so far, has done no physical damage to the others.
