Does anyone know where to buy pickling lime locally?

I have gone to Wal-Mart, food4less and stater bros. and they have all the stuff to jar spice up pickles(pickle mix) but no pickling lime. Does anybody know where to but it locally in L.A.?

Its pretty hard to find here because there's not a lot or pickling going on in So Cal..Your best bet is to bit the bullet and get if from MD or your lfs and wait unit there's a group buy.

FWIW, I hope to be getting 2000 pounds of food grade Calcium Hydroxide in a few weeks. The 50 pound bags will be some where around 40.00 each...If I'm able to get it.

You could try to ask on one of the midwest/east coast club forums and see if anyone will ship you a can or two. That is how I bought some a long time ago but can't remember who it came from. Could also search on Mrs Wages or Ball Canning pickling lime.
