Does hammer coral frag itself or spawn?

I have what was bought as a hammer coral that is much more like a frogspawn/hammer hybrid. I'm wondering if it can spawn on it's own and grow in a new place. I was doing some maintenance sucking out detritus that gathered and I found 2 balls of polyp looking things. Tiny, like an 1/8 of an inch. Bright green. Not much in my tank that is bright green. Only the hammer. I wish I had gotten a picture and if I can find them again, I will get a picture. Does hammer oar frogspawn do this at all?

My coral didn't drip or pop or anything. But I really don't know what else it could have been.

Mine went through a rough time, tank was overgrown with algae to the point the frogspawn bleached, cleaned up the tank and the shrivled mass (4 heads) started to come back. I noticed it had started to form new heads allong the stalk. After awhile the heads 'fell off' the stalk and are doing great. I now have 4 - 2 head frogspawns that are each about as big as the original.
