Does Lighting Matter for a Mantis?

Can't tell from the pic, is it the dual 18w fixture ?

Mantis don't really care about the light as far as their health is concerned.

Shrooms should be fine under that light.

Doesn't matter to your fish and inverts, most of them will become live food for your mantis soon enough.

yeah it is the dual watt fixture...i was planning on getting that for my 10 g and running a 10,000k bulb and a true act.

also, i assumer a mantis needs a glass top? what should i put over the area where the HOBs are?

"Mantis don't really care about the light as far as their health is concerned."

I'm not sure where this information came from, but the statement is incorrect. Incorrect lighting can have a serious impact on stomaptopods. It may apply to some species, but certainly this does not apply to all stomatopods. If you plan to have bright, broad spectrum lighting, you should select a diurnal, low intertidal species. I've tried to give some guidelines to selecting species on "Roy's List".

i got the light from Pet Paradise off of VA. Beach Blvd. and i got the 2 mantis shrimps from a club member. if you are looking for a mantis then i may be able to give you one of the two i just got.
