In my 20 hex, I have probably 500 micro brittle stars. I understand Paul talked about these at one of the meetings recently, and he has received the first ones I've managed to remove. I have no real idea how to optimize the survival of these, as they are hitchhikers. That tank is coming up on four years old, and I just noticed them about a year ago. The best method of transplant appears to be by removing caluerpa with them on it. That red stringy "tang heaven" stuff grows in that tank, and they flock to it. It will be a while before I can remove any more, but you might want to start a list if anyone is interested. If anyone has any other suggestions on getting them out safely, please let me know.

I would be interested. I have recived some hiking on some calurpa before but if i remember correct it was from IPSF and they did not last.

I would love to have some as well. I need some life for my tank. It could use some good cleaners for my rocks. As of now I don't have any fish so they would have time to grow and protect themselves. Out of interest, would they be able to live and grow if there were fish in my tank? It is not an aggressive tank.

In an attempt to clean these threads up.....
I will make a list of who has the frags and who wants frags. AS you get frags. Please copy the list and change it as you give a frag away and move your name from "wanting" to "have". If there are mistakes in the list, such as yours died or you didnt get any...then change the list.

Also...........if you are the original donor...........we need a picture and a description of each coral for the website.

I was lucky enough to aquire a few of these from a reefer in bartlesville she scooped up a little sand with them and they made the trip nicely. She told me that if you cut back on feeding your tank the number of brittle stars will decrease and if you feed regularly they will increase . (if the food source is there she told me they reproduce very well)they are very delicate and you have to be careful not to crush them.

I have 2 Clowns 2 gobies and a green chromis andthey have not bothered these little stars

I'm not sure if I will have any ready by the meeting. The only way I have found to transport is to harvest macro they are in. There isn't much growing at the moment. I'll try add a little chetomorphia (sp?) and see if they will run to it.

The macro I was using to export these, has quit growing. If someone can come up with a good method to get them out safely, I can donate some. Been a while since I've checked the board.
