Downside to reducing system volume by 12%

My system has about 340 total gallons (225 tank, 40 gallon sump, 29 gallon refugium and 45 vat). Last night my vat (simply a large Rubbermaid tub incorporated to increase volume) started leaking. I re-routed the water flow so that I bypassed the vat and am thinking it just isn't worth it to fix. Any thoughts?

I agree.. I mean it is really nice to have it, but at the same time your tank should be fine. Only problem is I haven't a clue what your tank is about (livestock) and what it has filtration-wise. :)

Do you use this "vat" for water changes? If so, and it makes the change easier, perhaps it's worth fixing, or getting something more durable that will allow you to continue changes in such a fashion. Just a thought.
