DSLR lens changing question

All,

I have a question regarding my Nikon d70s. Is it better to store the camera with one of the lenses attached to the body, or to remove the lens and put the body cap in place? I have three lenses, but use my macro lens the most. I use the camera in a humid and dusty environment. I've been removing the lenses after each use, but now I'm thinking I would be better off leaving the macro lens on when storing the camera. Opinions?

Thanks,

If it is what you use constantly then I would just leave it on. It will protect the sensor just as much as the cap will. Not to mention that you probably store the camera in some sort of case or protective bag after using it so it really won't hurt to leave it on.

It really don't matter... For long term storage, I let the body cap on in my camera bag (take up less space). But if I know I'm using it a lot or just lazy, I let my preferred lens on. Either way the camera shutter blades are closed when the camera is not in use, (the mirror is also down) and this protects the CCD from dust. Just the same, keep a lens or the body cap on when not in use.

I don't think it matters at all. I have seen some people over at FM arguing religioulsy over lens changes and dust issue, see, the real photographers are out photographing and are too busy to consider these small issues.

THe only time you should worry about this would be if you live in the desert or somewhere particularly dusty! I change my lens very frequently, and my dust issue is nothing a blow bulb can't fix. In fact, I haven't blown down my sensor in about 1/2 a year.
