Duncanopsammia axifuga?

scuba: depending on the strain, that could be an AWESOME deal.

What kind of flow are you folks keeping yours in? I just picked up a single polyp frag. I've got it placed lower in my tank but its still getting a pretty good turbulent flow.

yea and are they hard to keep like elegance corals or are they relitivly ok to keep

Much easier than elegance. When one of mine arrived, it had been fragged poorly- a hole was ripped right through the middle of the skeleton, clean through the polyp itself, and the bottom of the skeleton was cracked off at a weird angle. The polyp didnt open for around 6 weeks- I thought it was a gonner. Today it is wide open, completely healed, and eats like a champ. My other one has never had any issues at all- just keeps eating and growing.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead...but do Duncans like strong lighting? What are signs that they do NOT like their placement?

Just like other LPS, they won't open if they aren't happy. Mine are about 16 inches below and slightly o the side of a 400w Radium getting moderate, random flow. They are always open and very happy. BTW, I have not fed mine in over 6 months and it is still growing like a weed. One of the fastest growing and easy to keep LPS , IMO.

This was taken when I got it, about 8 months ago i think. 3 heads at the time, now over 20 heads!! I'll try to get a current shot later tonight.

I have some very close to the surface and near some t5s...they were brown, but are bright green now. Moderate flow for me.

good luck

I feed each head 1 dried mysis soaked in vitamins, selcon, etc...

I have the bi-color yellow/lavender, and had the green ones.

I have them placed in a 20 with only 2 T8s... with ok flow..
