summer is approching and allready the temp is rising in my tank, dont really wanna do the chiller from nanocustoms. Should i take the front panel on the top off, or do you think venting the cooling fans so they coll the water a bit too would work. only problem with this part is 1) evaperation which i allready deal with on my 80 and 2) the possability of water condesing in the lighting area......any suggestions.

You could just upgrade your fans. I think that the stock fans with the 48w aren't good enough anyways. They have the fans at nonocustoms that they use in the 4.24 upgrade. My tank seems to be more temp. stable since the upgrade. Plus it's cheaper than the chiller.

dunno if this would work fans are sealed off and designed to cool lighting heat in this set up, temp is increasing from other elemnts as well and im looking to up grade my pump again(thought about the skimmer but i heard its a POS ill just stick with my surface skimmer for now)

I am running a 4.24 for a toal of 96 watts with no heat issue whatsoever. Your pump might be clogged or getting old. The more clogged it is the more heat it will generate. Take it out and clean it.

When shopping for a pump check the wattage The higher the GPH and lower the wattage fro the same given GPH, the more efficient it is and the less heat it will transfer to the water.

Yeah, I've got the 12dx, and its had temperature issues ever since I started it up three months ago. I replaced the pump several times... all with jbj's stock units, none of which helped any. Finally, they sent me the newer model for the 2006 units and that helped. My temperature had been getting up to 88 with the lights off. Now its down to around a constant 82. They're still sending me a new canopy to be sure. I think that if you've replaced the pump already, upgrade the fans. I talked to chris at nanocustoms and asked if 25mm would fit as the stock fans are 15mm, he said that they will fit but that the clearance between the fan and the splash shield really becomes and issue so the fans arent as effective. They sell evercool 60x10mm aluminum fans with their refugium light, which i'm getting, they put out more air and the aluminum should help dissapate more heat.

nm just found the evercools they are 16.1 cfm. the ones above are 24 cfm. any idea what the stock ones are rated at

I looked into the stock ones (xinrulian), I think that they put out about 14.4 CFM. Now, I know that Chris said that the 25mm arent effective because there isnt enough clearance, but I dont know how those that you found on nanotuners would fit in there either. If you figure it out, do let us know.

well it's 210 cm from the outter end of one fan to the other. dont see anything in the back area but the fans no posts or anything but the exit wires for the lights and fans. only mod that would need to be made would be the vents for the exit, can do that with a dremel.
