Just thought everyone here might like to know, I recently aquired a small n. wenn (I think anyways) mantis, and have been housing him in a 2 gallon nano that I built. After several weeks of going for broke feeding, I stumbled upon a much cheaper alternative for food. I bought a pack of 100 Llyanassa snails on eBay from cm-marine. At only $35 shipped, it was a bargain at twice the price, compared to the cost of a few turbos at my LFS! My mantis (torpedo) absolutely loves them!
FWIW, I did NOT put all 100 snails into my mantis' house, instead, most are in my 55 Gal SW tank, and some are in my 20 Gal SW tank. I plan to order more as my stock is diminished. Interestingly, it appears that some eggs were laid during shipping as a small mat of eggs floated in the bag as well as the snails!
Finally, I have posted a few pics of my mantis on my website - http://www.angelfire.com/ne2/cwhite99/mantis/
Have a good day, and happy mantis watching!
