Eclipse System 12

Anyone have experience with the Eclipse Systems? I recently bought one to use primarily as a quaranteen tank, but plan to keep it minimally stocked with LR, maybe a few zoathids and mushrooms. It comes with a 13 watt PC, but I have found light upgrades available (65 watt PC) at Foster & Smiths. Has anyone figured out how to place a small skimmer on this tank? I suspect the hood will need to be cut to accomplish this. Any input or ideas welcome!

One other question - the hood does not have any fans. Has anyone installed a fan on this type of hood? It will probably be neede with the light upgrade.

Where on the Drs. site did you find the light upgrade? I have that tank also and have been looking recently for any upgrades available

i really dont like my ecipse tank. but that is just me i am know taking off the hood to add mh and a skimmer. although i do have the 25 gallon one so mabye the 12 is better.

I'm not sure that 13w light is PC, I thought it was just Normal Output.

I took my hood off and put a MH fixture on and a Hang on Back Aquaclear filter.

My only other complaint is that it scratches really easily.

The most recent catalog from Drs F&S have the light upgrade on page 89 (SMartPaq Retrofit kits). I guess I can get a fan from them also. The original light may be N.O. - but I thought I saw is described at PC somewhere.

I had an eclipse 12 I was gonna use as a nano. It being acrylic was the only thing that prevented me. No one likes seeing the scracthes along the sand line in an otherwise beatiful tank.

I ended up buying a nano cube instead, but kind of wished I just went with a normal glass tank and built an overflow into it to hide all the equipment.

JBJ has MH for eclipse. Coralife has nano PC w/2-9 watt. 10000k and 420/460 mix. you have to remove the hood. i have the Coralife on a 5g corner bow, its growing coralline after 3 weeks. 3" DSB & almost 7 lbs. LR, no need for skimmer. LR was simi-cured when introduced on March 14. i also have 3 Tunze PH's #106 @ 70.2 rated gph. each. plus the bio-filter with coralline covered rubble in filter box to seed.
