EcoTech Marine Radion XR30w G2

The Pro upgrade is going to require swapping out the power supplies which is a significant part of the overall fixture cost, heck the replacement cost of the PS is $309.
This is incorrect; the power supply for the existing Radion will also be used for the G2 and Pro, therefore no swapping will be necessary.

Then the electrical specs listed on the PS are currently incorrect? You obviously have better info than an end user available to you but the Pro fixture is listed at 170W's and the Radion's current PS is labeled 36v, 4.2A which gives you just over 150W. If what you are saying is true then the upgrade should be more reasonable than I would have expected and good news indeed.

The power listed on our PS is the output power. When we talk about 170w, this is the power actually being pulled from the wall. As John said, the Radion Pro will be using the same power supply as the G1 and G2.

I have been waiting for something just like the G2 as I didn't feel that the G1 was quite enough for my application. So I am quite pleased by the new specs and pricing.
One thing I would like to know however is regarding the fans. Has there been a change?
Does the G2 have an updated fan?

I am waiting patiently for pricing on the G1>Pro upgrade.

I have 8 modules that need to be upgraded so I hope it wont be too expensive.

I thought they had a different fan in Gen 2/PRO

Just got an email G2's arrived today don't think I can mention where as they are a NSV. Check your emails if anyone is waiting on them.

What are the Par reading for the bottom of the tank with the G2s? Im in the market for an upgrade to leds but my rock work is mostly to the bottom of the tank. Do you think the G2s have the punch to reach the bottoms of tanks. I only have a 90 with 23 inchs of tank hight. Can anybody that purchased and has a Par meter chime in.

I don't have the G2 but here are the TIR numbers.

I dont know maybe I should wait for the pro's I like the look of my tank but even with the G2 Par will likely only go up 20 or 30 points
Question is the 800 reading in or out of the tank and are the lights set to 100%
The MH still beats the Radion even with the TIR lens isent that stange

The PAR readings listed above are plenty to grow any type of coral. Sanjay Joshi has frequently discussed that PAR readings at the bottom of an aquarium around 150-200 are sufficient for the majority of growth requirements.

The G2 provides approximately 20-25% more peak PAR than a G1 with TIR upgrade. The difference between the Pro and G2 is mostly with respect to the addition of the violet channels. There will not much as much of a difference in additional intensity as that between the G1 and G2. When you consider the price of a G2 is $650, it is a clear winner especially compared to competing units.

I'm running 8 Radion G1s with the TIR lens over a 465 gallon full SPS tank, and I can't turn any setting 16K or lower over 80% without some serious lightening of my corals.

Anyone know what the light setting were for these par measures? I am guessing they are 12K at 100%.

I am currently running mine in the 20k range peaking at 18K at 80% intensity and I would love to see this same comparison at something near these settings. Anything tests out there like this?

I just got an email from BRS...

Just arrived and IN Stock:
The New EcoTech Radion XR30w Gen2

At $649.99 should I finally upgrade to LED for my 24G cardiff bullet?

I'm trying to "go for it" with MarineDepot, but I've been waiting 2 weeks for my lights and told I would get this week, but no, now it's next week... Maybe you guys can give Marine Depot a little more stocking love.
