Hmmm....thats interesting since the Expressway store sells twice as much Saltwater fish than norman and is number 16 out of 900 some saltwater departments in the company.

I must have been there on there bad day!!! Norman was a lot cleaner!!! I was at both the same day... Like I said IMO Norman was better maybe it was the day I was there...

Norman is a couple of years newer than then Expressway one. The tanks do look a lot more presentable in Norman. Algae is more of a problem at the expressway.

Be carefull on the salinity at those stores. We purchased some salt fish there twice. The first time we did not check the salinity and the fish died within 24 hours of getting them home. The second time the amount of salt in their water would not even read on our salinity gage. We think this was the problem on the first group of fish.

did you use a refracto, or hydro? if you aclimated correctly the difference would not have been an issue...

While it is true that correct acclimation will resolve that issue, correct acclimation for a fish moving from a very low saltwater mix to a high (normal) mix would take days.

It is not easy to move a fish upwards through salinity. Some places may have their salinity artificially low, as in 1.015-range. Moving a fish from this low to a 1.025 sg tank will really stress it out.

Moving down is easy. You can take a fish in 1.025 sg and pretty much add it to 1.020.

Its all to do with how fish secrete the salt from their system.

So- yes dave, you are correct, you need to know what the SG of the water is which makes a refractometer pretty useful.

Paul.

wow, thanks paul. i never knew that. if anyone is trying to get rid of a refracto let me know. i have one in my cart at Dr. F&S, but havent ordered it yet. i feel stupid. i dont even test my SG since i only have a hydro and those can be up to .005 off. :(

woah, thats a frag? more like a colony!
yeah thats the frag!!! or you could call it a colony lol when do you call it a frag or colony??

Has anyone ever been to Josette's? I went there the other day and they had a pretty nice selection. It is up by Nichols Hills.

Yeah, they didn't have any corals now that I think about it. They had quite a few fish tanks though. You're right about the smell. I think having a carpeted pet store is the worst idea ever.
